MALE HORMONES

A growing body of scientific-medical evidence indicates that there are moderate advantages to hormone replacement therapy for those past the age of 50 in women and men. I have developed the topic, HRT, for women. This site is for men.

Well, not quite, there are benefits for women taking testosterone:

1. Looks are improved, especially mature women and flabby ones.

2. Increased libdo (sex drive).

3. Increased happiness that comes with fitness and better looks.

I have included HGH (human growth hormone) in this male-hormone site because it is frequently taken by male body builders and is prescribed by some physicians along with testosterone.

The issue of how a particular hormone works is hopelessly complex because of the systhesis of related compounds from that hormone, as the below map of pathways illustrates.

The male issue is more complex. First there are a number of analogues of testosterone for which the research is in the neither land of marketing without requirements of FDA approval. A second, problem with HRT is that the established, medical route runs over $1,500 per year--the cost to women for HRT is a fraction thereof.

The mental benfits (including sex drive) might result from increased physical energy.
