Remember the forces that shaped the tobacco companies are at work upon pharma. Corporations are profit maximizing entities. I call it "tobacco ethics".

Disclaimer:  The information and opinions provided here are based on a belief that the evidence basis has been manipulated for the sake of corporations fulfilling fiduciary goals.  Based upon this premise, I am describing what I would do if faced with certain health issues.  I am not advising you to do the same.  However, if you are so inclined then it would be wise to consult your primary care physician for advice.

It would be wise to read the article here "Why Physicians Prescribe Junk Treatments" before consulting a physician.  Something is very wrong when the average for senior over the age of 70 is the taking of 6 prescription drugs.

recommendations and its science  below is the table on that page

Dietary Recommendations

Increase

Decrease

Avoid

Protein, fat, fiber.  Breakfast protein mix, fish, nut, cheese, cottage cheese, plain yogurt, vegetables, yam, egg, some whole grain products[1], beans2, and whole or 2% milk. Karo corn syrup (pure glucose sugar substitute).

Refined carbohydrates. White and whole wheat4 products,  rice, and carbohydrates in general.  Meats & poultry unless free range[2], bananas, grapes, raisins, dates[3].

Sugar added foods[4], instant breakfast cereals.  Large portions of carbs and fruits (especially dates, raisins melons, and, grapes, & fruit juices), rice, breads, and potatoes.

Vinegar,[5] high fiber cereal, protein, animal fats, lard, & butter are best, followed by palm kernel, coconut, and olive oils. [6]

Fried foods (unless high in saturated fat), large portions of food with high glycemic index, processed foods.[7]

Lunch meats unless cooked[8], corn[9], most crackers, chain restaurant, soy products[10], vegetable oil.  All GMOs.

Sugars without fructose:  barley malt, corn syrup, corn syrup solids, dextran, dextrose, diastatic malt, diatase, ethyl maltol, galactose, glucose, glucose solids, lactose, malt syrup, maltodextrin, maltose, rice syrup, source for non-fructose sugars.  For extensive foods recommendations use Fat Chance, pages 199-205 by Prof. Robert Lustig,

1) Healthy diet: The goal is to keep serum insulin low, thus avoid added sugar, easily digestible starches, and vegetable oils, in that order of importance.  Small meals and increasing fiber, fats, and proteins along with increased physical excursion all lower insulin.  Low insulin entails low serum sugar, which lowers the rate of glycation that damages proteins (see #4).  2) Weight loss diet of less than 15%:  in addition to the above, go on a very low carbs diet and stay on it until desired weight is obtained, then follow the healthy diet.  This diet will allow the body to cure NAFLD, IR, and MeS.  3) T2D diet for those on one drug:  follow weight loss diet, and monitor your plasma glucose so as to reduce dependence on your drug.  If after 6 month if this hasn’t cured T2D add alternate-day fasting.  Watch Dr. Janson Fung explain the issues on insulin and diabetes and alternate day fasting diet.[11]   Fasting diet cures T2D; it does for 90% of those who have bariatric surgery:  they fast the first 2 weeks and then eat small low-carb meals.  Most are cured of T2D in the first week. 4) Severe T2D and obesity:    Follow as low insulin diet and alternate-day fasting.  T2D is a progressive disease that starts with insulin resistance and drugs to lower glucose, then progress to more drugs and insulin injections.  The drugs pharma offers do not stop weight gain or the progression of T2D, which shortens life an average of 7 years.

[1] Most whole wheat breads are comparable to white bread as to glycemic index (GI) and insulin index (IL) (see  table Part 3), plus they have phytic acid (inositol hexaphosphate (IP6):  Phytic acid has a strong binding affinity to important minerals, such as calcium, iron, and zinc” Wiki that binds to and thus prevents their absorption. Phytic acid is also in beans, peanuts, soybean, brown rice, oat meal, corn, and nuts. White flour lacks phytic acid.  Sugars are added to mask the rancid taste of phytic acid.  Lustig, Fat Chance 133.

[2] Cattle are fed a diet of GMO grains.  Certified Organic has been outsourced to companies most of whom do sham inspections.

[3] High sugar fruits with high glucose index compared to most other fruits.

[4] In 2015 “Sugar added” is to be listed under sugar in food labels.  For current labels, how much has been added depends on ingredients, vegetables have natural low levels of sugar, fruits higher. There are 56 different sweeteners used in processed foods.   If in doubt, look at the list of ingredients for sweeteners.  Ingredients are listed in order of percentage by weight.

[5] Vinegar reduces insulin resistance and increase satiation.

[6] These oils are lowest in polyunsaturated fats, thus lower in omega 6.  And because they are from tress they are free of GMOs.

[7]  Restaurants used trans-fats oils for taste and cost. Processed foods use trans-fats (see #28), sugar, GMOs, and chemicals.

[8] Given the broken food-inspection process, they pose a major risk factor, which has been grossly under reported in our corporate media.  A 2008 study in France showed that their rate of food poisoning was 1/4th the US rate

[9] Avoid because of high GI,  GL, insulin index, and they have GMO gene that produces a pesticide—also in soy beans.

[10] “Allergy to soy is common…sources of phytoestrogens… lignans have the ability to bind to human estrogen sites… association between brain atrophy and consumption of tofu meals… raw soy flour is known to cause pancreatic cancer in rats…. Gout sufferers limit consumption of soy products” Wiki.  Likely also a testosterone mimic.  Sex hormone mimics contribute to obesity through their effect on fat storage. There are many sources for these mimics such as softeners added to plastics.  These mimics are likely a factor in obesity, early puberty, height gain & cancer.  Science is spotty but sufficient for Scientific American to warn about mimics repeatedly.

[11] Watch Dr. Fung explains, the body switches to fat burning, and the low insulin entails that the leptin system which drives hunger is shut off.  Thus not only is IR cured but the yo-yo effect of dieting doesn’t occur.

There is grass root revulsion to the current corporate health industry, with pharma doing the most harm.  The best account of bad pharma is by Danish Prof. Peter Gotzsche in his 2013 book Deadly Medicine and Organised Crime:  How big pharma has corrupted healthcare.  Prof. Gotzsche’s book has won the British Medical Book Award given by the BMA (British Medical Association which is comparable to our AMA).  Further endorsement comes from the Richard Smith former Editor-in-Chief of the BMJ (British Medical Journal) and Drummond Rennie, Deputy Editor of JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association) which are 2 of the 4 leading English medical journal.   The President’s Lecture on YouTube by Harvard Professor Marcia Angell confirms Prof. Gotzsche’s book. Pharma is worse than you can imagine.

*   My academic background consists of 12.5 years as a college and university student from 1962 to 70 and 1976-81, including 2 years of graduate school in philosophy and 10 science courses.  Those analytic skills were applied regularly to a variety of subjects after 1981.  Over a dozen topics have come under analytic scrutiny and have been posted at skeptically.org.   Health science became an area of interest around 1970, and a passion in 2004 with healthfully.org.  I bought my first medical textbook (pharmacology) in 1981, and since then 15 more.  My background in science and philosophy has allowed me to sort through pharma’s tobacco science and arrive at the best evidence based conclusions.  Often what has been changed by pharma, it is for the worse.
