1A, BAD REGULATORS, BAD PHARMAjournal articles confirmation, the overflow.  Expert advice is yet another example of promoting profits by scientists for hire, these key opinion leaders, the KOLs get it consistent wrong by promoting industry’s talking points.  You’d be surprised at how many accepted as fact beliefs about health and medications have been cooked-up to maximize profits.  There is a mountain of journal articles exposing the flaws, and below are the best of the documentaries and lectures exposing the corruption.  As Harvard Prof. Marcia Angell says, “the 800-pound gorilla can do anything it wants.”

Montana  MD. Marcia Angell PhD Harvard, based on her best-selling, “The Truth About Drug Companies and how they deceive us”.   Her lecture with slides is an example of clarity, organization, and logic; uses examples to illustrate points on how pharma, deceives the public, “educates” doctors, and influences regulators.  The evidence proves that the information and regulatory systems are broken https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDbQNBla6aU  Highly recommended

***** Everything wrong with the “System” (Educate yourself) 13 min, 309,000 views, What I’ve learned, first quality video, this one in the series is on the business manipulated information system and why we must do due diligence. Psychiatry Assoc. To turn doctors into willing pill pushers.  Weak on science; missed that all these drugs are tranquilizers, given other labels for sales, & they are worse long-term than nothing at all.  They pass FDA approval because they increase sleep, which is 15% of its “benefits” under Hamilton Rating Scale.  This is a blue print on how pharma markets all classes of drugs, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk-ryvdWPgw  Excellent

§*****Big Pharma:  Marketing Disease and Pushing Drugs 73 min, 100,000 about 2006, excellent on use of marketing, brief interviews and ads, but weak on quality of video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4CyAPJretY  Excellent

The fact-free lockdown hysteria, 53 min, 749,522 in 2 weeks, Thomas E Woods, Jr. on exaggerated claims of deaths and real costs of lock down; e.g., WTO predicts 42-66 million children will die from increased poverty.  Logical, but misses false positive, counting those without symptoms as infected, the comparison to yearly flu pandemic, hospital’s  $13,000 incentive for positive, and use of drugs that lower ATP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RDffMCAujg Very good

*****NPA Annual Conference 2011 Marcia Angell, 47 min, 335 views; lecture is of first quality; at the age of 72, she still stands above others.  She explains the existence of a fire wall wherein University professors ran trials to answer important scientific questions free of pharma controls, but in 1984 a Reagan shift began: thus major bias is the norm.  Poor audio quality, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjr4pPP-2VI excellent

Salt:  Are you getting enough? 13 min, 65,000 views 9/17, 327,000 views, What I’ve Learned; the historical use was much higher because of food preservation; we urinate the excess away.  With US guidelines for salt we have a higher mortality rate than taking 6 times that amount. He misses the little effect that it has on blood pressure, see Dr. Fung directly above. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=salt+%2B+what+I%27ve+learnedvery very good

The Silent Epidemic:  The Untold Stories of Vaccines 108 min, 518,000 views, points out how pharma promotes vaccines, many of low efficacy and all of questionable safety because we are injecting foreign substance that have not meaningfully been tested for safety or purity.  But the claims of harm done are too often based on weak science and a temporal relationship.  Good video and sound, worth watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLqSgrhQdq4  very good

The doctor who gave up drugs Episode 1 l real story, 58 minutes 257,000 views, Dr. Chris Van Tulleken, BBC quality and style documentary of, getting off a drugs.  Done in a UK clinic, 14,000 patients, 15 doctor, 10 minutes per patient; they expect a prescription. Human interest lacks science, chooses 3 types of medication, pain meds, psychiatric, antibiotics, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_ggnhpGvvA Episode 2: 58 min, 132,000 views, caught in a chain of 10 minute exams and patients who expect drugs, misses how bad they are, and how broken the trials and reporting and guidelines https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjn4f8YhhfU good [1]

Note:  The large number of professors and doctors who have come forward to criticize pharma’s tobacco ethics which generates tobacco science to market drugs most of which aren’t worth their side effect.  Many of these drugs are causal for other chronic conditions such as dementia, cardiovascular disease, colitis…  A chorus of academic critics has convincing evidence which can be found in peer review journal articles, a sample of which is at /rep and some more /rjklist of their books, and why doctors give Junk treatments.

I recommend that you cast the videos onto the television and view them with friends and family in the comfort of the living rom.  I now use a 20 foot HDMI cable, and the audio is played on a surround sound system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcMBm-UvdII&t=20s

Chromecast will no longer work with computers (thankyou Google—2017).  I wasted 2 days and several calls to Chromecast help line.  Then in March 2019 I saw a message that it doesn’t work with computers any more.  They want the owner to cast from their smart phone.

It is easier & quicker to type on a computer on this website than to use the smart option on the television and its remote control or cast from a smart phone.

[1] I hold  based on an assortment of changes that the only way the government, the media, and the universities will confront the food manufacturers and  pharma is for the financial sector want greater profits to oppose them, and therefore to exert its influence.

2C Fats, saturated. unsaturated, rancid and trans.  Again, we have industry maximizing profits, and this case almost every that is believed by physicians, dietacians, and the public is false. For example, saturated fats are the preferred best source of energy, moderately better than glucose from unrefined starches. Unsaturated fats (UFAs) become rancid on the shelf, cooking and in the body.  When rancid the damage the membranes of cells including the mitochondria, and thereby every metabolically active system in the body is operating at suboptimal levels. Omega-3 fatty acids are not good but bad, since they are UFAs.  What is good is another compound, furan fatty acids, found in fish oil; they prevent rancidification.  Omega-3 are not essential for health and they don’t reduce inflammation.  Saturated fats are heart health and preferred by the heart and brain, and UFAs aren’t because of rancidification.  And there is more the evidence against trans fats is weak.  The western ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 (1:16) isn’t bad, it is the quantify of seed oils (vegetable) UFAs that is.

Unsaturated vs saturated vs trans fats, animation, 5 min, 184,000 views,  Allia Medical Media, gives the industry’s good and bad fats, good and bad cholesterol, omega 3 essential fats, nothing on rancid, explains clearly the structures, distorts the legislation on trans fats, misses the exceptions  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brs2nMubr84  skip

2D  Ketogenic Diet (New Atkins Diet, his diet has been changed based on modern science to low protein and more green vegetables—low net carbs).  The ketogenic diet is extremely low-carb diet (under 50 grams, 2 ounces) forces the body to burn fat.  It is used to treat intractable epilepsy and to starve cancer thereby sometimes curing or at least reducing the risk of a cancer becoming metastatic (fatal)—see section 4.  It also reduces the risk of a tumor developing into a cancer.   The ketogenic diet was used before insulin to extend life of those with type-1 diabetes.  Fasting makes it easy to go into ketosis. 3A.  Diabetes (t2d) & Insulin resistance (JK’s diet cure, & select journal articles)

History has been buried the stand treatment developed in the late 1800s for type two diabetes, a condition which afflicted the middle class and wealth, was to go on a Banting type diet very low in carbohydrates, and the consensus is the medical literature was that if they followed that diet there life expectancy was not shortened.   For those with type two diabetes Meletus, the issue isn’t glucose but the failure to produce sufficient insulin which signals cells to import glucose from the blood.  It is a no brainer, the way to keep blood glucose in the normal range is to eat very little carbohydrates.  Only since about the year 2000 was it known that with the metabolism of excess pancreatic fat will the beta cells again produce sufficient insulin.  The cause of adult diabetes is a fatty pancreas.

***** Understanding and treating type 2 diabetes 60 min, 28,000 Jan 2019, Dr. Fung, audience of doctors, lecture is the same as others but more too point.  The second half is very important in that he goes over the drugs, various with fasting, dropping first insulin fasting, then sulfonylurea, likes Acarbose   regiments, and monitoring blood work, especially potassium https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw61ad-wedo Excellent

Fung’s blog is excellent with link to his books, diabetes clinic, outpatient program (works with your doctor).

****** Metformin – the case of exaggerating both benefits and harms, 29 min, 150,000 views Prof James McCormack, UBC   No quality evidence that metformin works, except weight loss through nausea—great!.  It reduces  renal performance and minimally lowering HbA1c.  Skeptical of treating glucose when problem is insulin resistance.  Plenty of journal evidence presented.    If physician told you of no benefits, nausea, lower the quality of life, would you take it?  A cheap gateway-drug that establish faith in the physician and patient asking for one with less side effects.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUOC5d0Siws   Excellent

Metformin diabetes worst enemy, 6 min, 673,000 views, Dr. Greg Castello praise metformin, a sales pitch, must take with low carbs, gradual step up to 2 grams, shuts of glucogenesis by the liver, clear organized, lowers MI risk and promotes weight loss.  The liver turns on glucogenesis to restore level of glycogen to prevent lack of blood glucose.  Diabetic shock is caused because red-blood cell depends on glucose, low glucose harms the -blood cells function supplying oxygen—thus the diabetic shock.  Second, the body stores glycogen for emergencies.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyOFbCmTzaQ&t=28s poor Skip

Are you smarter than a Doctor? What your doctor doesn't know about nutrition 71, min 222,000 view 2 months, Dr. Paul Mason, shows LCHF diet is superior to a LC diet. Restrict both seed oils and carbs, both cause insulin resistance, which harms by glucose toxicity (wrong) and hold insulin resistance is the cause of diabetes, thus treats his patients with keto diet and saturated fats; nut oils and fructose are poisons because they damage the liver through ROS.  Good points about the bad guideline and practices of medicine; exposes bad pharma bias and not sharing raw data as reasons for bad medical practices.  Well organized with journal articles as evidence many good points to which I took notes.  Freshmen level lecture, some errors of course. Polished lecture, good sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNz2gWqL0Ng  Very good

Catherine Croft PhD on Hyperinsulinemia and Kraft 13 min, 2,500 views, lecture on fasting glucose does not reveal insulin resistance; best method is glucose tolerance test with measure of insulin at 2 hours, if above 30 mu/mL than 90% chance of insulin resistance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCtwgAAuyBE Good

A brief history of fat and why we hate it, 20 min, 2,100,000 views, blames obesity on sedentary life-style (wrong), the need for excess fat for survival, basically full of errors, good illustration, relies upon several professors, ectopic fat causes diabetes (correct) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vinqph-g5QI Okay

The Twin cycle Hypothesis for type -2 diabetes:  5 min, 900 views Prof Roy Taylor leading researcher who measured fat in pancreas, Newcastle U.  On fat and glucose metabolism, the role of insulin; easy to follow, on the cause of obesity and type-2 diabetes—glucose/sugar, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xajUJ7ZeLME Good

Insight Beating Diabetes 52 min, 83,600 views, 2016 Dr. Mosely & Prof. Roy Taylor interview, using Taylor’s 800 calories diet for reversing diabetes under 10 years have success, while over 10 years are not so likely on a small sample of 4 who all failed [Dr. Fung has success]  Strong on human interest, well organized and moving entertainment, quality interview, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDEw561Nfto#t=2.990076  Very Good

Michael Mosley 5x15- blood sugar, 17 min, 213,000 views, swallows glucose causing pathology, misses sugar as poison.  Good motivational no science, well present talk by a person who is the most effective UK writer and formerly BBC medical documentary maker on food & health.  If interested in Michael then watch, otherwise there are better choices https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1HpS04aErQ  Good

Fasting and the Fifty Percent Insulin Problem 21 min, 188,000 views Butter Bob Briggs, clear simple, direct on how fasting lower insulin, recommends intermittent fasting or alternate day fasting, a very good lecture.      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sAqy1lnWXo&t=525s   Very good

*****Reversing the irreversible:  Type 2 diabetes and you 61 min, Newcastle University, Prof. Roy Taylor, slides, only with voice; explains why fasting works like bariatric surgery, his MRI images shows that liver and pancreas metabolize the excess fat to cure type-2 diabetes.  Misses fasting as part of diet and that LADA (Latent autoimmune diabetes of adults) of some in in his trial thus they can’t be cured by diet Important  https://campus.recap.ncl.ac.uk/Panopto/Pages/Embed.aspx?id=c3bef819-e5f4-4a55-876f-0a23436988ed  VG

*****Diabetes the Hidden plague, BBC Panorama  58 min, 22,000 views, focuses on all the major health consequences (hospital) value information, full of sad human interest, will motivate the viewer by feeling the pain,  little on the fixing the 11 billion pounds cost to the NHS, lacking in science https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGJ6cTWyMfg  Very good

Kraft, father of insulin assay, interview of Dr. Joseph Kraft, concerning his recently published book on his 17,000 patient whom he tested for insulin resistance using a method he developed.  It shows that 90% of those tested produce excessive insulin following the taking of 75 ml of pure glucose, what we call insulin resistance is diabetes.  Those with elevated insulin are at risk for the conditions associated with the western diet.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0nV-_ddXoc Very important, Very good

***** How to reverse type2 diabetes 38 min, 51,000, Dr Robert Szabo, Low Carb Downunder was diagnosed with t2d at age of 37, 6 years ago, has clinic that treats diabetes, ,As of 2018 there were published 32 trials of low carbs for t2d, of which 6 were 2 years are longer, and of them 10 had over 100 participants. The better the restriction in carbs the better the results  Goes over the exiting data for surgery, low calorie, and low carb diets, dozens of graphs, sound good.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JLwUz5bc-w  Excellent

Session 2. The Problem With The ADA Diet 11 min, 6,000 views, Dr. Richard Bernstein, informative for Type 1  & 2 diabetes, on how to go drug free.  He explains why the ADA guidelines & what doctors are taught are wrong.  At 84 with Type 1 diabetes he is proof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCzk66CQKEg Very good

Insulin resistance and high carbohydrate diets 41 min 813 views Dr. Timothy Noakes on how insulin resistance is caused by high-carbohydrate diet, and that is driving all the conditions once NAFLD develops especially type-2 diabetes.  Well presented, but a major flaw, misses the essential role of fructose in the carbs; thus ignores the prior talks by Taubes and Malhotra, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGKX8HoNb-0 Skip

Insulin Resistance 29 min, 48,000 views, Dr. Ted Naiman, figured out the biology behind the diet disaster.  He shows that the size of fat cells (how stuffed they are) is strongly correlated with insulin resistance and the subsequent pathology.  Several very important points such as the synthesis of new fat cell is why some fatsos are healthy, most don’t make new fat cells thus their adipose cells get stuffed and become resistant; technical, relies on journal articles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd8QFD5Ht18 Very good important

What if heart disease and diabetes had the same cause? 37 min  344,000 views, Lecture by Ivor Cummins. What I’ve learned, Misses fructose and mitochondrial dysfunction--this is a very common.  Build on insulin resistance to show the high rate of mortality and diabetes, and cancer.  Highest 1/3rsd had 40x risk versus the lowest third. Very good on the functions of insulin and the markers for it affects such as atherosclerosis and diabetes. Points out that LDL is not associated with illness. The full lecture The Pathway of Insulin Resistance Exposure and Implications is a better more technical version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_Gcq8bEUq8 Very good

The Latest Scams from the diabetic Industry 68 min, 140,000 views, Dr. John McDougall, a KOL,  has a clinic in which there is a 10-day program for diabetic, which gets type-2 diabetes patients off their medication.  He then goes on his lecture to inform the audience that saturated and trans fats raise cholesterol and serum glucose.  It is a slick presentation using tobacco science.  By the end I recognized that it is a continuing medical education class (CME), an audience of physicians, and he is spoon feeding them a line that fats promote diabetes.  A rare insight into a CME class https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgE2IdL6tMw  Watch to learn about pharma educating physicians and group behavior  The McDougall diet is low in fat, high in carbs and contains no cholesterol.  “The diet is based on a variety of starches such as rice, potatoes, corn, breads, pasta and fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables .” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_A._McDougall

NOTE:  6/3/21, I searched for CME classes on YouTube, got just 2 explaining them with low number of hits, done by KOLs.

3B.  Conditions of Affluence and western diet

*****Sugar, metabolic syndrome, and cancer 56 min, 395,000 8 months, Prof. Robert Lustig, Low Carb Down Under, like others college level, this time upper division, on how fructose causes the 3 in title, right on but possible the Warburg effect, states that cancer needs carbon change for synthesis in PPP Pentose Phosphate Pathway, I think it is of moderate importance and the apoptosis is major cause for mitochondrial dysfunction in cancer, loots of slides, rapid fire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpNU72dny2s&t=2196s Excellent.

Why are diseases of affluence and age rising 18 min 1,000 views in 6 month, Kate Jeffrey, claims that the diseases of autoinflammatory diseases allergies, MS,  enteritis, and type-1 diabetes, all up over 3-fold since 1950. Blames  epigenetics, absurd because the change is too recent for the genetics to have changed over 70 years.  Claims it is environmental changes are switched, need drugs to treat  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHAeR_VeU4I  skip

Nothing else on conditions associated with western diet.  However there are talks on the western diet. Pasted conditions associated with the western diet

3C Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease NAFLD and metabolic syndrome

***** What is metabolic syndrome, and why are children get it? 72 min, 52,000 views, Prof. Robert Lustig, like Sugar, The Bitter Truth, with over 7 million hits given to students; this is technical for researchers at Tufts University and goes at a faster pace. He shows the biology driving the pathologies is insulin resistance that causes on a high-fructose diet a fatty liver that causes the age-related conditions including diabetes, weight gain, ischemic events, dementia, arthritis, etc. Fructose is a liver poison.  Important to watch, even if too technical. The fix is to metabolize liver fat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEA6ow1icDc Excellent

There are dozens of diets, each supported by clinical trials, animal studies, and theory.  However, some clear evidence has emerged as to the good and bad of the western diet.  Before going on with recommendations, the analysis of Prof. Robert Lustig (Fat Chance Hudson Street Press, 2013) on the traditional Japanese diet (187-88) strongly supports his position that carbohydrates are fine if they aren’t highly processed and as long as sugars is limited.  If the carbs are highly refined (as with white rice of the Japanese) then sugar including fruits needs to be is severely limited.  “The traditional Japanese diet is polished rice (lots of carbohydrates), a little fish, some fermented soybeans [high salt], and lots of vegetables…. Even though it is high in carbs, the traditional Japanese diet works for four reasons:  First, there is virtually no sugar (15 grams per day) to promote insulin resistance, or fructose for glycation.  Second, the insulin rise caused by the glucose in the rice is gradual because of the slowed absorption from the fiber in their vegetables.  Third, the fish is high in omega-3 fatty acids, a powerful anti-inflammatory agent.  Four, their diet is high in micronutrients and antioxidants.  With their traditional diet, they have among the industrial nations the lowest rate of cardiovascular disease and obesity.  “Using fiber, as the antidote to carbohydrates, is the salvation of many a successful diet” (see chapter 12).  I would add that seasonal variation in fruits, permits the body to repair the damage fructose does to the liver and other organs, fasting during famines, periods of low carbs all contribute to those on a native diet having a low incidence of cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.
